Session:

Virtually Anywhere

You don't have to go far to find support. We are available for phone sessions during this time of social distancing. We can go for a walk "together" and talk on the phone. It is really good to get fresh air - so try to find a comfortable outdoor space where we can talk, if possible. Otherwise, find a cozy, semi-private space at home and let's talk about how you're feeling and what's going on inside your head and heart.

What is this all about?

During this time of social distancing, Get Out Adventure Therapy recognizes the need for social and emotional support. There is so much going on in the world right now and so much has changed in a very short time. Life is suddenly feeling very uncertain and confusing. We want you to know that we are here to talk about how you're doing. If for some reason we can't meet face to face right now, we can at least talk on the phone together. If you are able, we encourage you to get outside for our session. Maybe go for a walk or sit in a park near your house. Fresh air is good for our bodies and our minds.

Our therapists can support you in coping with stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, family conflict, ADHD, and any other social or mental health concerns you may have.

During our session, we will talk about how you are feeling, as well as practice anxiety reduction, mindfulness, breathing, and other calming techniques. Using a wide range of therapeutic practices, we will support your mental health as you navigate the rapidly changing world around you. Even from a distance, we are in this together!

We also offer the option of a Zoom video conference if you prefer a face-to-face online conversation.

Please, if you are having a hard time right now - reach out and I can help connect you with other resources for support as well.

How do I sign up?

You can book online to schedule a time that works with your schedule. If you have any trouble finding availability feel free to email and we can see if there is an option during a time that works for you.

Once you've signed up, keep on reading below to find answers to (hopefully) all of your questions.

What do I need to do before our session?

The two forms you will need to complete for Get Out Adventure Therapy are:

1) Informed Consent Form (know what you’re signing up for)

2) Intake Form (help me get to know you)

These will be emailed to you after you book your session. Please fill these forms out at least 24 hours before your session. By filling these forms ahead of time, you ensure that we use our time together meaningfully and not just doing paperwork. It also allows us to plan ahead to make sure that you get what you want out of counselling

How do we chat?

Once you have completed the online booking and your intake forms, your therapist will call you at the arranged time. If you are having a video conference, they will send you a Zoom link for the video call.

What will the session be like?

That’s up to us! Each client determines what we talk about that day. You can share how you are feeling and coping with life. Together, we will work on practices such as mindfulness, communication, breathing, decision making, and more.

We will focus on coping skills for stress, anxiety and change, as well as come up with practices for keeping your mind and body healthy in the middle of changing times. For many of us, there will be a lot of challenges in the next months. Schedules and routines have shifted, plans have changed, and many things are uncertain. Learning to adapt and stay grounded in the middle of stressful times is very important.

We can work together to breathe deeply, find compassion for ourself and others, and learn how to cope with changes to our social life, privacy, and home situations. As well as all the usual things, like depression, bad days, relationships, conflict, and stress.

What about my parents/caregivers?

Parents/Caregivers are asked to allow this one-on-one time with your therapist to build trust and create space to talk about life with someone outside of the family unit if possible.

What does it cost and how do I pay?

A 60 minute session costs $100-120 and a 90 minute session costs $160. The cost of your adventure therapy session may be covered under group insurance plans. Please talk to us for more information. Brandon is also connected with WSIB, the Victim Quick Response Program, and PROPEL among other third party groups.

Payment is required at the end of your session through a number of means. An E-transfer can be sent to admin@getoutadventuretherapy.com.  Credit or debit cards can be presented in person, and you will only need to present your card once. All future sessions will be automatically and securely billed.

What if I can't make it?

Our cancellation policy is to give a full refund if the cancellation is done 48 hours or more in advance. Cancellations less than 48 hours prior to your session will be charged 50% of your fee. Cancellations less than 24 hours prior to your session will be charged 100% of your fee. Life happens, we know, so let us know if you need to reschedule and we will always try and work with you.
